Black House Snake Female *Pet Only* Read Description (blkbig-21123)
Description
This girl is a little special. She hatched from a very bizarre tiny egg about the size of a dime, and not surprisingly she was exceptionally small, weighing so little that she didnt even register on my gram scale on day one. I had concerns over if she was going to make it at first, but she did start eating same as her larger siblings, and outside of her preference for smaller prey has been a consistent eater.
She eats mostly frozen thawed pinky mice, but does prefer live pinky mice on occasion.
She hatched on 2/11/23. So she's 3 months shy of two years old and roughly the size of a yearling. Given how small she was at birth, this isn't surprising.
She has a shorter snout than other blacks which makes her eyes appear a bit large by comparison, but they're fine. They move uniformly and respond to light evenly. I dont have reason to question her vision. Her scales aren't perfectly uniform, which you can see in the pictures. In some places they are more bunched together, and in others they are farther apart where you can see the white skin underneath. She hatched this way and this will never change.
These are things that have been documented before in unusual eggs or those that underwent incubation issues so I dont believe this is genetic. Her mother and father have produced many very typical hatchlings that have gone on to produce their own normal offspring as well. I am selling her as "pet only" simply because i'm not sure she will ever reach a size where it will be safe for her to lay eggs of her own.
She's never bit anyone, even during examinations, and I do think she would make a good pet for a compassionate person interested in a unique snake.
